Bob Dylan

Another music icon and another face that is just made for painting. Bob Dylan has so much character in his features — the curly hair, those distinctive eyes, the whole look is iconic.

I painted this in acrylics keeping the palette quite earthy and natural. Dylan to me is all about authenticity so I did not want anything too flashy. The background has subtle hints of colour that suggest the energy of a live performance without taking away from the portrait itself.

As a music fan this was one of those pieces where I was grinning the whole time I was painting it. When you love the subject it shows in the work.
